A Taste of Olive has created an innovative concept, where our customers have the opportunity to experience the finest award-winning 100% Extra Virgin Olive Oils, whole fruit and herb fused olive oils, and balsamic vinegars from select artisans around the world.
Our oils are grown and pressed by artisans and small farmers, in Italy, Greece, Spain, Australia, Chile, California, Morocco and Tunisia. Most of our balsamic vinegars are harvested in Modena, Italy and are aged up to 18 years. We want our customers to share the concept of incorporating, a more flavorful and healthy cuisine, into their way of life.
In a charming shop in downtown West Chester, we encourage our customers to sample all of our Extra Virgin Olive Oils and Balsamic Vinegars before actually making a purchase. The walls of our shop are lined with large, stainless steel drums known as a fusti which supply the unique flavors of oils and vinegars.
Our customers are encouraged to savor each and every flavor until they find their own favorite. All of our oil and vinegar bottles are then filled, corked and sealed in the shop, to ensure guaranteed freshness.
Homer called olive oil "liquid gold." In ancient Greece, athletes rubbed it over their bodies before competitions. Olive oil lit the lamps of both Jewish and Christian cultures, and was the only oil used in many religious ceremonies. The olive trees on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem are reported to be over 2000 years old. Olive oil was a religious, medical and nutritious symbol used to anoint kings, athletes and newborn babies, and as a hygiene and beauty product, infused with flowers and with grasses to produce both medicine and cosmetics.
Olive Oil has been more than mere food to the people of the Mediterranean; it has been medicinal, magical and an endless source of fascination and wonder.
Our mission at A Taste of Olive is to bring our customers the freshest and highest quality Extra Virgin Olive Oils from around the world.
We source all of our traditional olive oils from artisans or small farm producers whose olive oil meets stringent IOOC (International Olive Oil Commission) and COOC (California Olive Oil Commission) standard s required for classification as 100% Extra Virgin Olive Oil. 1) Pressed from fresh olives, harvested using traditional methods, within 24 to 48 hours after harvesting.
2) Pressed using no heat, steam or chemicals to extract the oil.
3) Certified to have an acidity level of 0.8% or less.
4) Taste tested and have been evaluated by a panel of experts for flavor and aroma.
